IMITATION PEARLS
Imitation pearls are artificial, manufactured "pearls". As such, they have no real value as gemstones.
Imitation
pearls are generally marketed under descriptive terms such as "faux," "simulated," "artificial," or "man-made." Sometimes
regional names such as "Mallorca Pearls" or "Red Sea Pearls" and "Laguna Pearls" are also used. Whatever term be used, such
pearls are not gems. Rather such pearls are ornamental.
Imitation pearls should always
be identified as such by the seller.
